Pablo Reinoso
Pablo Reinoso was born in Argentina in 1955 and is living and working in Paris. Via
Wouldn't it be cool if public benches and other public "installations" had art incorporated in them like this? I'm sure if given the opportunity, many artists would be willing to create things like this for public use for free or really cheap.
There is more to life then commerce and efficiency! It would be nice to see governments acknowledge/(borderline) endorse this idea.

Bombay Bicycle Club
This band looks super young (if you happen to know their age please let us know) but sounds really good. According to their myspace they are unsigned but I found their video on youtube and its posted on the Universal Music Group channel and it says "Island Records" in the description.
I think we can expect this band to blow up considering they have a major label behind them and people think that they are an indie band (think MGMT, Ting Tings, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, TV on the Radio's last album, Yeah Yeah Yeah's current)
You probably don't care about this business stuff. Ill stop. Here is the mp3:

MOY Concept - Design Your Own Car
I want this.
"MOY concept is made for generation who uses technology as a means to express themselves and communicate with others. The idea behind MOY concept is that everyone can design their own car on their own computer and then apply the design to the vehicle using wireless data transfer or share it with other people through web-site, forum, e-mail etc. To those who lack the necessary skills or time to create their own design, we offer the option of downloading ready made designs. The vehicles are interconnected, so the change is possible in motion. Movement recognition technology enables us to draw on the car in real time. Since MOY can display both static images and videos, it can be used as a new medium of promotion. Vehicle is powered by batteries that charge electromotors set in wheels and controlled by drive-by-wire technology. The body of the car is made of outer and inner policarbonate layers, with layers of liquid crystals, LED diodes and electrochromic foil (film) in between. The concept MOY is the winner of the design contest during the auto(r) automotive design conference."

Papercuts
"Papercuts is music by Jason Quever with help from people like Graham Hill, David Enos, Frankie Koeller, and Alex Scally" <-- Papercuts myspace.
I just heard of this San Fransisco band a couple days ago and I really dig the new single (below). The new album, You Can Have What You Want, just came out on April 14. Apparently its Jason Quever's third full length (the first two flew completely under my radar).

Illustrations by Benjamin Linus of Lost
Michael Emerson, the actor that plays Ben on Lost (one of the few TV shows I watch on the reg), use to be a magazine illustrator before his acting career took off. I thought his illustrations (above) were quite interesting. The pics are from screen shots I took (via hulu) from his interview on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Seeing "Ben" be a normal person and not a super creepy evil man who is constantly manipulating people (don't listen to him John!!) in the interview was kinda weird. He also discussed how he didn't know he was going to be the leader of the others or a reoccurring character on the show when he first got on board.
Check out the interview here.

Coachella IDIOTS/DOUCHE BAGS
The biggest problem I had/have with Coachella was/is the number of IDOTS / DOUCHE BAGS that were/are in attendance. They definitely were not in the majority but their presents was very apparent and seems to be growing over the years at an alarming rate.
IDIOTS:
This year there were drinking fountains at Coachella that you could use to fill your water bottle which was awesome! The problem was that the lines were super long and the people in the line I was in were idiots. I waited in line for about 40 minutes watching these people trying to fill their water bottles. They were struggling with applying the right amount of water pressure to get the water in their bottle (Fg.1). It was not just one idiot.. Everyone was having this problem.
After 30 or so minutes of watching this, I just couldn't take it!! I had to walk in front of the line and explained to the people to move the bottle to where the water is "falling" rather than trying to have it go into where they were holding their bottle (Fg.2). The crowd responded with simultaneous "ooooh"s.
idiots.
DOUCHE BAGS:
These are the people who purchased Coachella tickets only to see The Killers, Travis Barker & DJ AM, and Steve Aoki and think they are super cool for doing so. Douche Bags are the ones that push through the crowd, stand directly in front of you, get all up on your grill and think nothing of it. These people are also the ones that break into your car and steal your friends iPod and jacket. They are the cancer that will eventually kill Coachella and the whole "indie scene" for everyone.
Douche Bags.
I do have friends that some might consider Douche Bags and some of them are really nice people (people I could/do have a pleasant conversation with on a regular basis) but are just unaware of how they come across as Idiots (pulling it all together ;)). I understand that they might try to get into performers like DJ AM and Steve Aoki in attempt to be less Douchey. I guess I'm just sorta bitter that we share some somewhat common interests (not a real AM or Aoki fan but they are involved with artist/music/stuff I am interested in) when a small part of the reason I am into what I'm into is to distance myself from Douches and idiots.

Paul Mother Fuckin' McCartney
Coachella last night was def the best live concert experience I have had to date.
Wrap your mind around this ---> I saw Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey, and Sir Paul McCartney back to back in that order, about 30 ft from the stage for less than $200 (hard to imagine anything could top this)!!
I could have easily thrown a rock at Paul McCartney if I wanted to (I actually really suck at throwing things so realistically I would have probably missed but anyone with average throwing skills would have hit him). He performed a TON of Beatles' songs and it BLEW MY MIND. The man is incredibly charming and pretty much all that you would expect from a Beatle.
I would go on but I am still in the "honeymoon stage" and would probably ramble on about things no one really cares about.
That's all for now :)

Coachella
So I'm off to Indio for Coachella! Above is my tentative schedule (well the second part of it) via the Coachella application on my phone. I'm not quite sure how all of the features on the app work yet but I think it will all make sense when I'm there.
I would say check back for all of the awesome pics I take but I lost my camera last year and I don't want to risk having that happen again + its a real pain in the ass having to be accountable for my possessions in such an environment (not even gonna wear my glasses... going with contacts). Any pics I take (if any) will be on my phone and I'll prob just upload them on my facebook so you will have to check them out there.
Cant wait to see Paul McCartney!! I hear he mostly performs Beatles songs! (He and Franz Ferdinand (but mostley Paul) are pretty much the reason I'm going on Friday even though I think Saturday's lineup is the best)

Justine Lai
This girl is crazy.
"In Join Or Die, I paint myself having sex with the Presidents of the United States in chronological order. I am interested in humanizing and demythologizing the Presidents by addressing their public legacies and private lives. The presidency itself is a seemingly immortal and impenetrable institution; by inserting myself in its timeline, I attempt to locate something intimate and mortal. I use this intimacy to subvert authority, but it demands that I make myself vulnerable along with the Presidents. A power lies in rendering these patriarchal figures the possible object of shame, ridicule and desire, but it is a power that is constantly negotiated."

Barnaby Barford
"Barnaby Barford is an artist who works with ceramics to create unique narrative pieces. Although an accomplished craftsman, Barford primarily selects found objects, taking both mass-manufactured and antique figurines and turning them into sinister, sardonic but invariably humorous sculptures. As the sentimental figurines become characters in his twisted narratives, Barford turns their perceived vulgarity on its head, often into a different and more explicit vulgarity."

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
So I have pretty much been listening to Grizzly Bear non stop this week. I'm going to see them at The Wiltern in June (inshallah). I have the tickets.. No one can take this away from me! Ill let you know how that goes ;)
When I first heard of them I thought they were good but not quite great. It took a while (couple months of occasional listening) for me to "wrap my mind" around their music and then they almost suddenly blew me away.
I went through a very similar process with Radiohead and they are now my favorite band!
Below is their first single off of their new album Veckatimest which is due May 25 via Warp. It happens to be one of my least favorite songs on the album (still good though). I don't want to get in trouble for posting anything else that has yet to be released :/ (look into "Ready, Able" if you can get your hands on it... "While You Wait for the Others" is also good (vid above)).

Yan Wei
"Most of my subjects are about the childhood, memory, games, and toys. I like to paint harsh reality under a lovely disguise. That series of little girls which I use is inspired by the 80’s Chinese pop style. Fairy tales have special meaning to me. The feeling of helplessness in many of the stories is masked with innocence, which creates a world of contrasts, contradictions, and shows the reality of the world as it really is."
